Unable to download with Azureus.

I fell in love in rtorrent and use it all over the place. However, some idiots on a certain torrent site that I visit, decided to ban most of clients, leaving me only with Azureus as my option in Linux environment.

The problem is as follows - this thing simply won't download a single bit from any torrent I connect to.
I have more or less standard settings, chosen a non black-listed port, no firewall problem (don't even use it). In fact, the health sign is marked green and plenty seeds / peers connected to me - yet nothing happens. If I boot in Windows and try downloading with either Azureus (same settings) and even uTorrent, the download starts instantly on the mentioned torrents. Of course, even in Linux environment, rtorrent (on the sites that are supported) starts downloading even better and faster. So, obviously this thing (Azureus) isn't well configured for my Linux env. Do you have any tips how I could trouble-shoot this. There are many options, but as I said, most of it I left untouched, except from custom up/down speed + the port setting.

Heh, I even mailed the sys ops from the torrent site I'm mentioning, asking them to add rtorrent on their supported clients-list, so maybe we don't need to do this either. But, you never know... So if you can help me out, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have a similar problem.
I installed debian lenny on another box, I get a more updated version of azureus from debian repositories. It won't download anything, even if I try to download torrents with hundreds of seeders.

It passes Azureus's Nat/firewall test without any problems. I don't use a firewall or router. The box is connected through dhcp.

Any suggestions?

regards

My start up configuration with any new Azureus 'install'.
1. Pick a port for Azureus to use
2. Configure that port appropriately with my router and/or firewall
3. Double check all your setting are where they should be. (In advanced mode)
4. Read, read, read more....
For me that is usually it.

I can't offer too much technical help but some things to consider:
The most important, Is Azureus worth the hassle? Many other torrent clients exist. uTorrent, my M$ choice, works well with wine.
Do you use Comcast? Google 'Comcast's torrent policy', they a currently implementing features that inhibit torrent use. If you are using your computer in a public place such as a library, you are behind a firewall you can't easily configure, if at all.
By the way, use a firewall, it's your first line of defence against skript kiddies, and hackers. Firestarter is easy to use for nubs like myself.
