unable to burn cds in k3b

HI, i just installed fedora core 2 and am unable to burn cds in k3b. It has my burner listed as reader and nothing listed as writer. I'm very new to linux so if you know whats going on here please give me detailed instructions, thanks.

Well, I can't give you detailed instructions, but in the K3B window,
try looking for what's called K3bsetup(it's in one of the menu's). When you click on it, it may ask you to put in your root password. Then try playing around with that, just reconfiguring your cd reader to be your cd writer.

yeah thats where i saw that it didnt have anything under cdwriter, but the only thing it has there is add device and its already detected my only device. It says writes cds: no writes cd/RWs: yes where it shows the properties of my burner.

Also i just noticed my user account dosnt have premission to write to /mnt/cdrom. That sounds like it could be the problem, how would i go about changing that? i tried unmounting it and giving myself premission to the directory but when i remounted everything went back to the way it was.
