Unable to boot F9 install from DVD
I am trying to reinstall Fedora 9 onto my desktop, but it won't boot from the DVD. It just goes straight to GRUB.
I set up the BIOS to boot from [CDROM] first, then [HDD].
When I leave BIOS and normal boot-up begins, it pauses at the "Boot from CD :" line for about 5 seconds, then continues into GRUB.
Media Problem?
I tried the DVD on my laptop, and it boots into the linux install screen without a hitch, so the media is fine (I burnt the image onto a DVD-R and DVD+R and both work on the laptop).
Could it be the drive?
I have a master DVD drive and a slave DVD drive.
I took out the slave DVD and tried the master. No go.
I changed the jumpers on the slave to master, and tried that by itself. No go.
Could this be a BIOS issue? Maybe some option I've never heard of?
It seems unlikely both DVD drives are bad.
Thanks for the help!

New developements: My desktop DVD drive boots into the Windows install CD no problem. It still won't boot the burnt Fedora DVD. However, my laptop boots the Fedora DVD no problem.
My desktop DVD drive is fairly old (3 years) and dusty. I tried taking the cover off (4 screws) and blowing on it. Anyone have better cleaning instructions?
(For the record, I tried a friend's DVD drive and it worked. I guess there was too much dust in my old DVD drive. It still spins smoothly and seems in good working order. Rather than buy a new one, is there a way to clean the reading eye?)

If the reading eye is made of glass push the eye and swinging arm very
gentle to the end of the movement and clean it very gentle with pure
alcohol
To clean the total drive used compressed air with a build in dryer
A other possibility is that electronic need to be tuned
The live span of a CD Or DVD depends on the quality and the burning hours

Seeing as I didn't have the required cleaning materials handy, I just took it apart, blew on it for quite a bit, shook it around quite violently, and put it back together. It works!
(The eye was clean-looking while inspecting it, so I was just careful not to touch it.)
