After doing a dist upgrade, I am unable to access the root function of kde when I right click on 'open as root' in the menu. It tells me my password is wrong. This occurs everywhere kde-su is used. BUT when I go to say . . . console, I have no problems changing to root. What do I need to do to fix this.

I have isolated this furthur. The problem is only in konqueror, or when running the 'kde SU' prompt, such as if you were going to open synaptic, it would give you this promt. When the password is entered I get 'incorrect password. Please try again'

The other is if I try to bypass this and go to term. If I try to open synaptic I get;

Please note that I am able to become root, but the same type of problem exists.

I have looked at all packages in the x region and all appear to be ok. I'm not sure this is a password issue, so much as a Konqueror read-write problem, but it is beyond the scope of what I know. Any suggestions are welcome.
