Ulimit -v Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


I am unable to set ulimit -v for virtual memory on linux box. ( redhat Advanced server ). Is there is any way I can set this


On linux
/etc/sysconfig> ulimit -v unlimited
ksh: ulimit: -v: unknown option
/etc/sysconfig> ulimit -a
time(cpu-seconds) unlimited
file(blocks) unlimited
coredump(blocks) 300000
data(kbytes) unlimited
stack(kbytes) 64035
lockedmem(kbytes) unlimited
memory(kbytes) unlimited
nofiles(descriptors) 1024
processes 15231

On Sun
/home/ruzhunna> ulimit -v unlimited
/home/ruzhunna> ulimit -a
time(seconds) 3600
file(blocks) unlimited
data(kbytes) 1048576
stack(kbytes) 8192
coredump(blocks) 100000
nofiles(descriptors) 256
vmemory(kbytes) unlimited

What command are you trying?
You are running it as root aren't you?
Have you tried with a lower number for ulimit -v? It might be failing because you're trying a number that's much too high.
