Unhappy UIM simply not working correctly

I installed UIM and all required packages, as well as about every language package, and running uim-toolbar-gtk brings up the toolbar but it only has the one blue button, and nothing else. It won't change input methods (in fact none appear in the input method list, but they do in Preferences), and even when I set the default to another method (Anthy) it still does direct input. I've restarted to no avail as well.

Help?
