ubuntu wont enable compiz


hi all
i have ubuntu jaunty on my pc and a nvidia geforce8300 gs and i have installed the propriatery driver but when i click any desktop effect type it says they couldnt be enabled i online ubdated from intrepid ibes 8.10 yesterday and it was working before then

Starting with the basics...
How did you install the driver? Which one?
How are you trying to start compiz fusion?
