Hey, replica. No, ubuntu is not the only distro I've tried. And, I've been on this forum for more than a year now. I was on here under another name. I never gave up on ubuntu, rather, ubuntu gave up on me. Trust me, I've tried being patient with ubuntu. But I have my limit. Thanks, man.

You guys need to settle down. Don't get the troll all worked up. Haven't you guys learned anything from these nerd type forums, if you feed the trolls, they'll have a reason to stick around and tell us how Linux or Ubuntu sucks, along with yelling out fanboy comments and the like.

Stop posting and the thread will get swallowed up, davidx can just talk to himself but will get bored when he realizes that no one cares what he thinks any longer!

davidx- There are other distros, and not all behave the same. Perhaps you could try the live CDs til you find one that works?

Cheers
Wassup, dragonslayer! Thank you for your thoughts upon my thread. In reply to your question, I did try a few distros but was not satisfied. Don't get me wrong. I think ubuntu has potential. But for now, it should just be relegated to a work in progress until it gets up to the level where speed and performance matches windows. This is what the developers' goal should be.

Finally I decided to try a few of the so called advanced/hard distros, Debian & Slackware. Turns out, these two were the only ones I could install with less hassles, sure I had to tinker around to get some stuff working, such as flash, music etc, but they install out the box with less issues then the so called easy distros. I've been using them since.

It's just a matter deciding if you want to stick with something to make it work and once you get it working your way, you will love it.
Hey, fred. Thanks for the comments. I do agree with you to the extent only to where the distro will work without the problems that was prevalent on older systems. I wouldn't mind going through the hassle of geting a system to work. But, if problems from the distro exist where such problems were normal 10 or 15 years ago - and they shouldn't be an issue anymore - then it's not worth it and the distro has failed its purpose. It should then take a 'back to the drawing board' approach until the kinks are out of it so much so, that such issues that shouldn't exist - as they don't exist anymore - are completely eliminated.

Pardon my french but thats just BS.You did much better in your first post.

Sorry bout the language but utilizing superior, filesystem and windows in the same context is just ridiculous.
Microsoft is multibillion $$ company with a gazillion employees and is still running a 15 year old filesystem with some modifications.

To make matters even more ridiculuos they couldn't deliver on the promised new filesystem for vista that was developed for 5 years or so and it ain't going to be in windows7 either.

Dunno what they installed and how but if somebody isn't aware that screwing around with partitions with data on them can lead to loss of the data is just thick.

People like that are in the same league with the malwarecatchers.

I really don't see why you go on with this since you already burned the bridges (insert melodramatic music) and rejoined your old love (insert happy song).

Frankly I'd think somebody would have something better to do than explain to a forum full of Linux nerds how wonderful windows is.

This piece has no purpose and is completely useless rant. I've seen several like this one, and I'm fed up with idiots who feel obliged to write another piece of crap about linux without ever giving enough effort to make things work.
The piece does serve a purpose. And it’s not rant... the proof is your reaction.

I’ve seen angry people like you before who have issues with themselves who resort to hating others because others refuse to follow their beliefs. I've tried to make ubuntu work, but it failed. Is it a crime to write about a system’s failure?

Also, you are soooo angry. Have you tried counseling?

You are misinforming people. You won't run into problems after dual boot, if you did it correctly.
Use the search function and read about the myriads of users who complain about dual-boot. Also, use google. Here, I'll give you the addy to help you: www.google.com.

It is really strange that it took you so much time to realize it, because it is quite obvious. Linux never tried to be windows. Read this article.
It is equally strange that it took so much time to realize that most people prefer windows. Linux is trying to be windows since it has become gui. Read this article: http://lifehacker.com/5029852/launch...indows-version

Vista won't work on 900mhz machine. Ubuntu will. End of story. And again - if you are really interested in linux os, try another distribution (at least 5 of them). If you aren't - then go away, people will be quite happy without you.
I installed Vista on my machine. It works. I installed ubuntu in the same machine. It doesn’t work as fast and as well as Vista. End of story.

Oh, sure... I’ll go away right now... let me just say goodbye to your sister first.

When something breaks, typically the only way to fix it is to reinstall everything. Which is stupid.
I do agree. Reinstalling ubuntu is stupid.

FYI - ubuntu isn't trying to compete with Windows. Linux isn't trying to compete with Windows. it doesn't need to.
Errr! Wrong! Since linux is becoming more windows-like and is offered as an alternative o/s, it’s clear that it’s competing with windows. And you're right... it doesn’t need to. It can never compete with windows.

Quote: They should be competing with XP, not with other linux distros.

You’re right. I don’t like what they do... but, it’s not my problem anymore! It’s yours now.... Bye bye!

That wasn't my name on here, wrong again, as usual. It's strange to see some people so obsessed with me. I can imagine your hardship. Maybe you're stressed? Do you have any activities outside of computers that can help you relax, like, fishing, bowling, camping, a girlfriend, perhaps? I think the constant focus on computers has stressed you. Take a break, and let it all out... you don't have to feel presurred. We hope you feel better soon and can come back to the forum feeling normal again. Counseling can also help alleviate your issues.

I have to admit that you have this shtick down to a "t". You should try to make it as an abusive comedian like Don Rickles used to be.

trickykid, have you ever been banned? Words can get you into trouble, you know. If I were you, I'd stop making ridiculous comments that can get you banned. Your comments go against the rules of the forum to which you agreed.

Please be sure to follow the forum rules and respect others as you would want them to respect you. Be nice and others will be nice to you.

Are you angry that Obama won by any chance? I ask this because the anger since Nov. 4 has been relentless. and I have seen this anger from many who are mad that a brother won. Just curious.

You also mentioned the following:

Quote:
equivalent thread would have started out as "Women S U C K"
If you have so much anger towards women, then maybe this is not the forum for you. Women are not bad people. Learn to respect them also and they will appreciate you for that.
