Ubuntu Studio 12.04 Faulty after running bleachbit

Good day Linux users, I have Ubuntu Studio 12,04 running well, until I tried erasing an 8gb micro sd card with bleachbit. I took options to apply to the best of my knowledge, bleachbit to just the external card. Using, APT autoclean, clean, autoremove. System, memory, I thought this only applied to the 8gb memory. Now I cannot open a terminal for:
"Failed to execute child process."
Upgrades and istallations do not work, after I watched the download process there is an error.
I tried copying and pasting it but I cannot open LIbre Office again there is failed to execute child process.

I also cannot open my external 160 gb memory to save files in case of emergency. I am having trouble saving my bookmarks and need advice, can I send them in an email?

Can this be fixed?
How do linux users format an external memory?
How can I save documents and images? And save my bookmarks?
Can I re-install Ubuntu Studio 12.04 and save my old settings, documents, images?

APT actions always apply to the installed system, APT is your package management system. The dangerous action most likely was the autoremove command.

Your best bet would be to start the system from a live medium and then copy the .mozilla folder from your home-directory, this way you can recover your bookmarks later.

Without knowing what Bleachbit actually did it will be difficult to answer that.

Definitely not using Bleachbit, that tool has a totally different purpose. Usually you would use the commandline program mkfs or GUI programs like GParted for that.

Start from a live medium, copy over your data to the external medium. Copy also the hidden .mozilla folder (assuming that you use Firefox), it contains your bookmarks and can later be "re-implanted" to a fresh Firefox installation.

You should have a backup anyways, but to answer your question: it depends. If you have a separate /home partition this will work without any problems, otherwise the easiest way would be to make a complete copy of your home-directory (including hidden files and folders).

While installing a fresh system you may use the time to think about while having backups is a good idea and why you shouldn't use tools that change system settings without knowing what they do.

I won't make that mistake again.
Thanks.

I'm trying Firefox sync online with a password.

If I re-install the same Ubuntu Studio 12.04, is there a way to get it to keep everything, documents...? You mention the live medium, so I use trial before I install, and somehow find "home directory"?

Sounds a bit serious if you can't even open a terminal.

If necessary, use a live CD to backup your /home - even though it has bits missing, you will preserve your shortcuts & documents etc.
Did you:-

You may eventually need to do a Ubuntu reinstall, but in such a way that you don't overwrite your /home.
This is easy if /home is in its own partition, otherwise not.

Only if you have a separate /home partition. If not you have to backup your home-directory.

Exactly, you boot from the live medium into trial mode, find your home directory on the internal disk and copy it to your external disk. Then you install Ubuntu Studio (if you are at it already, create a separate /home partition) and copy your home directory back to the internal disk.

OK, thanks, I could not create a live medium for Ubuntu Studio, due to Unetbootin problems. But had an old Mint Olivia, and used the love medium and Home directory, to save documents, and most could be copiied. Then I installed Mint along side the damaged distro, and can also access the originals through the file system.

Why could only "most" documents be copied?

For some documents, access was denied authorization.
I meant, live medium.
