ubuntu question

i had a friend who gave me a copy of ubuntu. i know i can get it online, but i was wondering if someone could give me the low down on what ubuntu offers that i might not already have with red hat v.9. i know a lot of open source software and os's depend on user preference. any help would be great though. thanks.

rh9 - um...
fedora - oh!
ubuntu - yummy

My first imprssion about ubuntu hoary rc is that it is simple. I would switch to ubuntu because it's the best distro for python developers.

red hat 9 was a good release, you can get the work done without nasty surprise. If you use intel or ati video card, fedora 3 is not recommended due to problems of xorg 6.8.1.

P.D. the next version of ubuntu (hoary) would probably coming out in days. If you prefer KDE, take a look of kubuntu

I've used both and the biggest difference for me is that Ubuntu is a little more current and easily upgraded. RH9 is nice, but outdated at this point. Ubuntu is also Debian based, which I prefer--but that's just me.
