it just said there was an error, It happened while installing the cor package and I now know there are at least two errors in the MD5, I don't know what that means but I think it is bad.

what would cause a problem like that, I partioned it with one 5gb bootable flag and one 1.5 gb switch, is that right? Should I just download and burn the CD again or what?

How are you trying to install ubantu? The error is in reference to a network install. WHat happens when you boot to the CD. Please be specific, do you go into an install reutine? what are your options? and when does it crap out? It sounds like you are you trying to use the Live CD. I don't think that's what you want. You need to get the installation CD.

Try this:
ubuntu-5.10-install-i386.iso

For information on how to install form this CD:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Installation/I386

Let me know how it turns out.

Right, I am downloading that, then burning it. It then just says there was an error, it happens at 32% it says to look at the log but I dont know how to check the log while in the setup, im afraid to exit the setup since windows is not on there anymore. I am downloading it off another server and then I am going to burn it with a recomended program, then I will see. I am downloading that one too, I will run the MD5 Checksum on them both, if the file name is that but with (2) at the end will it still work. Thanks, sorry for not having enough info but im just so new to linux. should it be taking 1 hour+ to download?

It's no problem, your doing good. It seems Ubuntu could do a better job with describing the problem. Let me know what happens when you get the other install.iso. Out of curiosity, why did you choose Ubunu? I hope this is not an indication of how Ubunu preforms in the future. I'm going to take this opportunity to shamelessly promote Slackware

SLackware uses 2CD's (3 -4 are not needed) but it's well worth it. The second CD just has X windows related stuff so you can just download it seperatly after install if you want. It's not to much of a pian just to get the 2nd cd though. You should give it a try if you still keep having problems. I only say so becasue I havn't heard good things about Ubuntu.
