ubuntu nfs prob only mount as ro

hi there,

I'm having some problems mounting an NFS share in Ubuntu Hardy heron.

first of all I can mount it but i cannot mount it with RW, it mounts but i cannot write to it. I know it isnt the server as I can write to the share from other systems on the network and have been able to for the last 3 years.

I am either using the same command i use on other systems (Suse10.1)

mount 10.20.99.253:/raid5/software /mnt/software -o rw

or i am mounting it at bootup from fstab

10.20.99.253:/mnt/raid5/Software /mnt/software nfs rw 0 0

as I say both these work on other systems and they do mount the share on ubuntu but i cannot write to the share. from this it seams like an ubuntu problem.

the auth on the share is via ldap which i have got working and can login via ldap on ubuntu so i know it isnt a permission problem.

any help will be much appreciated

regards

berrance

sorted!

after half a dozen restarts yesterday that made no difference at all i simply turned the machine on this morning and it, well it simply worked!!

strange i know, well at least it works and i can now start thinking about migrating my SUSE 10.1 workstations to Ubuntu

I would suggest you change from this:
Quote:
10.20.99.253:/mnt/raid5/Software /mnt/software nfs rw 0 0
to this:

Code:
10.20.99.253:/mnt/raid5/Software /mnt/software nfs defaults 0 0
