Ubuntu Keylogger

I wanted to know if anyone could recomend a good keylogger for Ubuntu, as I have had trouble finding one. Im not gunna put the key logger on anyones comp or anything like that. I simply Want one as my comp is always crashing (for a reason thats too much work and money to address) and it is a precautionary measure to ensure I dont loose any unsaved documents.
All i need are keystrokes to be logged, for i just need the text, so the program can be simple.
Thanks
Also, I am new at linux and ubuntu, so every step is a difficult one and I would appreciate it if you would treat me as a slow child in your explinations.

Thanks again

If you work in OpenOffice.org you don't need a keylogger as it has a setting to save (a copy of) your document at regular intervals. If you work from the commandline only then you don't need a keylogger either: install 'rootsh' instead. Bottomline is that a keylogger is not seen as a benign piece of software. Besides if the next crash takes away your harddisk no tool will save you unless you make backups at short intervals to remote or removable anyway.

...still I'm interested in knowing what this is about. Care to elaborate?
