Ubuntu installation: 25% in 8 hours! Help please!

Hi, I hope that you can help me, because I really need this urgently.

I've downloaded the latest stable version of Ubuntu x86 .iso and burned it like a cd image on a cd and then I ran this on my formatted Laptop. BUT when I come to "Setting Up Primary Installation" it stayed 8 hours on 25%... this can't be the truth?

Please help me with my problem, and tell me what to do.
Appreciate your help

Is there anyway of looking at the install in 'verbose mode'?
eg press alt+F2 or escape?

or try re-starting, it might of just caught up on something, or a piece of configuration was wrong.

I had a similar problem with an Ubuntu Install. Though I was using one of the pressed Cds

What i did and what worked for me was this. Keep using the same media and change cd drives in your computer, this is a valid option for me, I've got like 5 extra ones lying around. If you can do that, try that.

If that doesn't work, then redownload the iso and reburn, and when you burn the iso do it at a very low speed 4x or 8x and then retry your install.

If that doesn't work, tell us!

ok, because its a laptop, I missed that, try to download the network boot option for installing it. It will take significantly longer (unless you are on a T3) than a media install, but that should work pretty no matter what
