I just spent the day downloading Ubuntu14.04 and burning a DVD.
I am installing it now.
BTW Thanks to everyone who is helping my these last 6 days.
The thing that is bothering me now is the slideshow and instruction screens.
The letters are all messed up. Some are missing and others are in the wrong place.
It is like if they used the wrong keyboard to make it.
The photos and screenshots are okay.
Anyone else had this problem?
After installing it, the problem started appearing again after a few minutes.
It looks like this is the one I will go with. My friend will probably stay with Mint until at least next month.
It seems to affect messages and keyboard instructions.
I have determined that the problem was glitches when it was downloaded or I didn't get a good DVD when I burned it.
I am reinstalling Mint 17.3 so I can download Ubuntu again and will go from there.
