ubuntu 9.10 downgrade


Hi folks,

I have just on-line upgraded to 9.10. And foolishly did not make a system backup fisrt.

Ok my home dir is on its own partion. So I think I can just install jaunty from the dsik and all will be fine, if I backup etc, and opt?

then reinstall the relivant software? yes?

Have a look at this thread - I use the command from the last post to help with what I need to (re-)install after upgrades.
To avoid what you're experiencing, I keep two partitions for Ubuntu and flip-flop between them - separate /home partition. Install using the same user/password - if I get problems, I just reboot back into the old system. Ubuntu has so many problems with its upgrade I gave up using it years ago - full re-install each time.

probably nothing. I have not exactly a fast box. and 9.10, is veryslow, err like running vista!

yeah, thats a good idea. After xmas (Santa new hard disk please), I'll try that.

Doesn't need much - I use 15Gig for each. Could get by with 10.
