Ubuntu 9.04 doesn't boot to graphics screen

I've recently installed Linux 9.04 on my ASUS MS-6340M PC. This has Ubuntu as a dual boot system with Windows XP Prof. Previously, when I had Ubuntu 8.04 (which incidently I really liked) there was no problem. However when I try to boot into Ubuntu now I receive the following message. "4.962660] {Firmware Bug] powernow-k8.. Your BIOS does not provide ACPI-PSS objects in a way that Linux understands" After that there's a couple of lines about complaining to the Linux ACPI or my BIOS vendor. What, if anything can I do please?

You could go back to using v8.04, which is the option that I recommend.

You could start your motherboard BIOS setup and turn off the ACPI and APIC on your motherboard.

You could add either or both of these boot parameters to your boot prompt:

noapic acpi=off

You would do that by editing /boot/grub/menu.lst
