ubuntu 5.10 repositories

I am evaluating ubuntu 5.10. It does not come with as many prepackaged software programs as does Suse 10.0 and others. Also, I have been unable to connect Synaptic to update my system.

I am behind a server, but my LAN connection and internet connection are fine. The server forbids downloading from Ubuntu's ftp site. I can use a web browser to connect to the site, but cannot do so using Synaptic.

Does anyone know how to do this? Or, do you know of any manuals/guides for Ubuntu 5.10?

It seems like a very solid Debian based distrution. I am currently using Suse 10.0. It does not boot as quickly or efficiently as Ubuntu.

Thanks,
Dan

pretty much the same as Ubuntu 5.04 - except some of the configuration is done for you.

http://www.ubuntuguide.org/
http://easylinux.info/wiki/Ubuntu
http://help.ubuntu.com/starterguide/C/faqguide-all.html

Basically, not all the repositories are enabled by default. Not all the packages will have been ported to the new repositories while the distro is still new. Count them sometime.

So how did you do?
