Ubuntu 14.04 printer driver for Epson XP310

Running Unbuntu 14.04 LTS and recently tried to install new printer , an Epson XP310. It finds it wirelessly and attempts to install the Epson driver 201303W. It loads half way then halt and screen seems to be locked. I expect this driver worked with a previous version of Ubuntu. Anyone have this problem and found the magic key?
Thanks

According to the Open Printing Database, the epson-201303w is the recommended driver.

I have no idea why the install is hanging; a web search turned up nothing about a bug involving the printer and Ubuntu, but that is hardly conclusive. For testing purpose, try connecting first by direct wired connection to the computer to verify that the printer connects and works, then move it out to the network after establishing that it does.

Thanks for your response Frankbell:

I tried a direct connect via usb and it recognized the printer, XP310, but when downloading the driver, it halted at exactly the same spot as first time. It loads about 50%. Troubleshooting says Ubuntu 14.04 experienced an internal error which I saved and forwarded to Ubuntu.

Would it have anything to do with the fact I'm running a 64 bit version of Ubuntu?

I would expect that, if your /etc/apt/sources.list file points to the correct repositories, Ubuntu should download the correct version of the driver, but that is a possibility.

The link I posted includes links to the 64-bit driver in several formats. You could try downloading the *.deb file from that link and then installing it with dpkg (when dpkg is installed, it should appear in the right-click "open with" menu in your file manager).

It's been a while since I used Ubuntu. I'm not sure that it includes dpkg by default, but it's in the repos.

Let us know what happens.

Alternative

Can't be certain but I have a E X200 wireless & seems as I recall it will operate your unit. Epson has linux downloadable drivers on their website. Might help. Good luck 😃
