Ubuntu 11.10 can't read built-in webcam on HP

It's all in the title. I put Ubuntu on my cousins HP (at her request) and she called me yesterday saying when she tries to work the webcam through Cheese or Camorama she get's this screen that says it can't connect to the webcam. Any ideas on why this could be?
