Ubuntu 10.10 on Toshiba

I have installed Ubuntu 10.10. on my Laptop "Toshiba Tecra 8200", but the screen resolution is only 800x600. How can I get full screen? Can anyone help me to solve this problem?

if you have an internet connection, check you're video hardware and see if any more recent drivers are available

sounds silly, but have you checked the display settings in preferences/administration (i cant remember which)?

I suspect it is running in vesa mode. See if you can find out what the normal driver is supposed to be.

I try to check System/Administration/Additional Drivers and got the message: No proprietary drivers are in use on this system. How can I find out what kind of display card is on my laptop?
