TypeItIn

I use an extremely useful Windows program called TypeItIn.

It permits you to 'program' buttons with things like name, address, passwords, phone, etc. Whenever you are filling out a form on line or logging on to a site which requires a user name/password all you have to do is click on the appropriate button and the info is 'typed' in.

Does Linux have a similar application?

Sounds like that gator program on windows that remembers all your passwords for you. I haven't seen any of those programs on linux. And personally I am against those kind of programs. What's the use of having passwords if you let the computer remember them all for you anyway.
But I guess for filling in other things it could be usefull. It probably wouldn't be that hard to make though.

Mik:

Thanks for your response. It happens that I visit quite a number of Web sites who assign their own user names & passwords. Many of these change on a fairly regular basis. Having the ability to edit a button or two is a great timesaver!

I sent an email to the programmer who wrote TypeItIn and he said he moght consider writing a Linux version. I hope he or someone else does since I use this six or eight times a day!

Mozilla supports a subset of the feature. It can remember usernames and passwords. U can also configure the forms feature to remember a few more things.

I, of course, had no idea what the hell Mozilla was. However, I found their site, downloaded the file and, almost accidently, managed to get it installed.

While perusing the menu bar I found preferences and the Forms editor. This looks like the real thing! Once I figure out how to use it when I log on to sites requiring that kind of data.

Thanks for steering me in the right direction!
