Twitter via Pidgin?

Hi.

I am using Pidgin as my AIM messenger. Now, I'd like to be able to receive my Twitter updates via Pidgin. I followed the instructions on the Twitter site; I added the screen name "twitterim" and sent it the text that the instrucitons told me to. Yet I receive no updates. (I know there have been updates as my TwitterFox shows them.)

Is Pidgin supposed to work with Twitter? Or am I doing something wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA,
Dai
