I have a bt848 chip with temic tuner type 6 tv card that I have used successfully on a P4 under open suse 10.2. My problem is that I acquired a Dell dimension 5150 duo core machine and while the video works fine, the audio does not function at all. This card has an audio out that I have directly accessed with headphones with no success. I have twiddled with the mixer over and over to no avail. All permissions regarding the audio, dsp and mixer are adjusted to my user, and I have started the programs in root with no success. Programs used include xawtv, kdetv. Video great, no audio. I have inserted the modules with the following: modprobe bttv card=9 tuner=6. module tvmixer has been used to no avail. All this worked fine before. Could this be the duo core? All comments welcome.
