Hello.
Sure portal with video services require installed Microsoft Silverlight 5. Is there any substitute to watch the video material in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64-bit.
Regards Chris

There's something called Moonlight: I have not used it, but you might check out this: https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubunt...moonlight.html

I get the feeling that I read a way to use a windows install of silverlight and export it to linux under wine. Not sure how far you will get with DRM video.

Hello and welcome to LQ by the way.

Thank You very much for your advice.
I installed Chrome and the movie starts. Firefox is a weakness for movies.
Thank You for an accurate diagnosis.

It seemed that the longer the problems will not be. And yet.
After starting the link below and selecting the first left at the top (Polsat Sport HD) displays the message:
"Your browser does not support Microsoft Silverlight plug on this operating system."
Chris

Of course, Google Chrome.

Hello and welcome to the forum

There are two reasons I'm guessing as to why you're experiencing this issue. First, Google Chrome does not support NPAPI based plugins and hasn't been since version 35 for Linux. Also, Moonlight does not support DRM content. Please see post #7 here. If the show you're seeking to watch requires DRM, then it will not be possible under Linux, in which case, the only fully legal/ethical solution in my opinion (that I'm aware of,) is to either install a full retail copy of Windows (if you don't already have it installed) on a separate partition or to install in a VM. However, I think the former would be the better alternative.

Regards...

Interesting:
1. The film, which did not open up, because he needed Silverligt - Chrome works.
2. The film does not work because I need Silverlight.

In the first case, Chrome solves the problem.
The second is not.
It's hard to fathom. Ah, this Linux.

Regards
