tuxracer

I am a new Linux user.

I use Mandrake 8.2 , computer is running under AMD XP 1800, with 256 MO ddr, Radeon 7500.

I have tried several times to play tuxracer, but computer freeze once the game is launched, and should reset the computer just after.

I have tried to play frozen buble too, but the same happens.

Can somebody help.

Is this a problem with Radeon ?

Probably, i heard that Linux and Radeon cards dont like each other so much, but again that is only a rumor. Anyway, maybe upgrading to Mandrake 9 will fix this problem, it can also be because hardware acceleration is not enabled. check dri.sf.net for hardware acceleration problem.

Thank you NSKL !

Already check hardware acceleration before, and was enabled... my computer says it was ( so i believe it is ) ;-) .Will try dri.sf.net and will let you know.

If you have any other ideas, please let me know. Hope the weather is nice in Italy !! Regards.

What version of XFree do you have installed? I can't remember the exact version but I know it is only very recently that the 7500's got 3d acceleration, if they have it at all in the stock XFree drivers. 7200's had the same core as the original Radeon but the 7500's had a newer core.

You might also try the gatos drivers ( gatos.sourceforge.net ) whic have 3d support according to the website.

Hi Mephisto,

Thank you for your reply, just received your answer.

I'm running Mandrake 8.2 , Xfree is 86 4.2.

Thanks for everything.:Pengy:
