turn images into animated movie

Hi. Is there some freeware software for linux that could turn a bunch of jpeg images into an animated movie? I tried searching on google, but seem to only find tools for making animated gifs.

i havent understood weel the problem.... but i think that ffmpeg can resolve this problems... if don't fit your needs... can you explain better what you need? you want make a set of jpeg from a mpeg/avi/ecc? or you have a set of jpeg and you want make an mpeg/avi/ecc?

I would like to take a sequence of jpeg images and turn them into a movie. I was hoping to try a little claymation, not seriously, but for fun. I have a slightly old but serviceable digital camera and was hoping to use that.

The documentation for ffmpeg is quite long, but I *think* it is what I need. I must admit I didn't realise that ffmpeg was an application, I thought it was a library!
