tsclient 0.140 install error,Slackware 10.1

I am trying to compile and install tsclient. when I run ./configure I get the following error :

to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable

I'm at a lost as to how to slove this problem.

Have you installed "libpanelapplet"?

If yes, check version, if correct, then find location, add it to PKG_CONFIG_PATH.

otherwise install that library.

libpanelapplet is not installed as far as I can see. I've been trying to figure out which package libpanelapplet is contained in.
