Trying to work out what ^$ means?


Hi everyone.
I am trying to work out what ^$ means.
When i enter "^$", a blank line is shown.
I do not understand why is shows a blank line.
Could someone help me understand ^$ better?

^ Matches the beginning of the line
$ Matches the end of the line

so ^$ effectively matches blank lines
