Unhappy trying to start X with onboard video chipset

I got Slackware 8 started, yet I'm getting "fatal screen error: no screens found" when trying to startx.

I don't have a video card, only the 810 chipset.

I tried creating a new XFree86Config file with custom monitor rates, but still same error messages.

the XFree86.0.log file states that an error is in line 302 because it doesn't recognize "".

Any ideas?

this is the end of my XFree86.0.log

(EE) Problem parsing the config file
(EE) Error from xf86HandleConfigFile()

Fatal server error:
no screens found

I think I might just go buy a new motherboard because this one is generic. ("m6twc" manuf. by quantex with Intel 810 chipset)

it should have worked with defualt drivers.. the xconfig has drivers for intel 810 chip.. as I too have a 810 motherboard and red hat 7.1 running on it without any problem. Anyways which version of XFree86 are you using? As given on their site they support 810 since the 3.3.6 version... and you can download the drivers from the intel site too, the link is.

810 display drivers for Linux

hope this helps..
