Trying to install Wine but can't seem to add lines to source.list
I am using Debian and I am trying to install Wine to be able to run windows programs but I am unable to add any additional lines to source.list. I have been using GNU nano to add the lines (I was told that I needed to do that from Wine HQ website) but for some reason it doesn't add them. Also I would like to know how I would then go to the text based site to get Wine.

are you trying to add a repo?
you might not have access to the file are you root? su - and then try to edit the file. |
I am logged in as root but I dont think that I am adding a repo.

wine is already in the Debian repos, no need to add anything.
Just do apt-get install wine |
http://winehq.org/site/download-deb
if they are not in the standard repos for debian, and i think they are, then you can follow that howto to get it installed. |
Quote:
The latest version to make it into Debian unstable is Version: 0.9.28-1 Keep in mind that having the latest version of wine isn't always the best thing. Find a version that works for you then keep that version, as newer versions tend to introduce new bugs. |
