Trying to install some software again (for godsake)
Problems again.

I thought I’d try to install this widget here:

It wasn’t clear to me how to do it. I landed here:

and downloaded the zip. Unpacked it and then what? Completely in the dark as to how.

One thing was seemingly clear on their page. Installation could proceed with this command:

plasmapkg2 -i package
So, I tried out the command and got a message that it’s not installed and I should install it with:

sudo apt install plasma-framework
So, I do it and an installation starts that takes really long for such a simple little thing. So, I kind of get the feeling that I’m doing something totally wrong. I Ctrl-C and the installation stops.

I think that now I need to uninstall whatever got half-way installed. So I open that “synaptic” manager, whatever that means. The manager sees that some installation went wrong and suggests that I should use:

dpkg --configure -a
I sudo the command and I see it installing lots of stuff.

Then I re-enter the “synaptic” thing and I see the plasma-framework there, among the installed applications.

I am not sure what I did, up to now. Everything seems so exceedingly complicated in Linux and I keep feeling stupid. Unable to install a darn widget without first consulting the community. :(

Anyway, now, I suppose I need to un-install that plasma-framework, whatever that is, from within the synaptic manager?

And just out of curiosity, how was I supposed to install that widget in the first place?

Thanks again

What distro/version? It's clearly a Debian derivative, but which one, and which version of KDE?
