Unhappy Trying to install Schedule DRMAAc

I've installed sun grid engine on my workstation that is running Ubuntu 12.04. The install seemed to go pretty smooth - I used these instructions:

Now I am trying to install the perl module Schedule:: DRMAAc but running into trouble.

First it couldn't find the $SGE_ROOT, so I added it to my .bashrc
(SGE_ROOT=/var/lib/gridengine; export SGE_ROOT) - so that seemed fine

Now the error I get is that I'm "missing a link to drmaa.h"

There are instructions in the README file but I just don't understand them, despite my forum lookups and googling....Here are the instructions:

* make sure your DRM's environment is set up. e.g.:
source <SGE_ROOT>/default/common/settings.csh

* Prepare installation to find header and binary of DRMAA implementation.
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH $SGE_ROOT/lib/`$SGE_ROOT/util/arch`
ln -s $SGE_ROOT/include/drmaa.h

* (optional) Run swig on interface file and drmaa.h
swig -perl5 -exportall Schedule_DRMAAc.i

My questions are:
1) there is no settings.csh file in that default/common directory - how do I make this?
2) the SGE_ROOT=var/lib/gridengine and within that is 3 dirs: bin, default and utilbin so I am unclear what these other dirs are in the enviro variable and link they want me to make... do I just make these dirs?
3)There is no drmaa.h file. I tried making the link ask suggested but when I try to install after the error just says that drmaa.h doesn't exist.

Please help! I'm pretty new with Linux so I apologize for my poor explanation.
Thank you
