Question Trying to install aMSN's .rpm - doesn't seem to do anything?

Hi,

Trying to get MSN on here, so I downloaded the RPM installer for aMSN browsed over to my home dir and ran it via the GUI file explorer.

The little installing status bar comes up it does about 50% of it then it disappears seamingly without installing (the application doesn't appear on the desktop or in the main menu)!?

On my quest to learn the linux shell commands, is there a command to install the rpm via the shell - atleast then with verbose I could see what it was doing :P?

Thanks in advance,
James.

You can try installing with:
rpm -ivh /path/to/file.rpm

Hi,

Ok, I tried running that command - it ran... but it gave the following errors:

[root@localhost /]# rpm -ivh /home/james/amsn_0.94-1.1.fc3.rf_i386.rpm
warning: /home/james/amsn_0.94-1.1.fc3.rf_i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 6b8d79e6
error: Failed dependencies:

libtcl8.4.so is needed by amsn-0.94-1.1.fc2.dag

I'd appreciate your input ?

Thanks in advance,
James.

You will need to install those dependancies first.

The easiest way to find them is to search on rpmfind:
http://fr2.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2htm...redhat-9&arch=

Then just install them the same way.
