Trying to Dual Boot with GRUB

sda1 is Linux, sdb1 is Windows. When choosing Windows from Grub, I get a blinking cursor and go nowhere.
Here is my /boot/

timeout 10
shade 1
viewport 3 2 77 22
splashimage (hd0,0)/boot/grub/mdv-grub_splash.xpm.gz
default 1

title failsafe
kernel (hd0,0)/boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 failsafe
initrd (hd0,0)/boot/initrd.img

title Linux
kernel (hd0,0)/boot/vmlinuz- root=/dev/sda1 splash=verbose mem=2048M vga=788
initrd (hd0,0)/boot/initrd-

title Windows_XP_
root (hd1,0)
chainloader +1

What am I doing wrong?

Since you have windows on the second drive (an insult so great that windows refuses to boot), your current config won't work:

title Windows_XP_
root (hd1,0)
chainloader +1

You have to modify that to re-map the drives so that windows thinks it's on the first drive:

title Windows_XP_
root (hd1,0)
map (hd0) (hd1)
map (hd1) (hd0)
chainloader +1

or something along those lines. You can get correct instructions from the grub manual.

Genius! It worked perfectly, just the way you typed it!
Thanks so much.
