Trying to Dual Boot with Fedora 2

I recently installed Fedora 2 on my machine, which has two hard drives. The first has Fedora, while the second has Windows XP.

I set up the grub.conf file for dual booting, as was recommended in the Fedora 2 Bible, but it just won't boot to XP.

title Windows XP
rootnoverify (hdc,0)
chainloader +1

Has anyone else here had this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Roy

try chaining with following option.

title Windows XP
rootnoverify (hdc,0) <--- (hdb,0) [if it the HDD attached as second HDD]
chainloader +1

once you change, boot the system and check.

alternatively, in the BIOS you can usually set which hard drive to boot from. This would allow you to have Windows on one, FC2 on the other and no need for grub. Of course, you would have to go into the BIOS instead so it's not as elegant, but it might keep you going in the meantime until you sort out grub.

Probably a known issue with FC2. Check the google results on fedora core 2 XP

I tried this configuration:

title Windows XP
map (hd0) (hd2)
map (hd2) (hd0)
rootnoverify (hd2,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1

And it wiped out the Windows XP boot sector!

without wanting to be silly about this, if the bug has been fixed in FC3 (I don't know whether it has or not), why not download and install that instead of FC2? Does anyone know if this is still an issue in FC3?
