Hi guys,
Problem:
I was trying to install xmind (
www.xmind.net) on fedora 21. It is open source - but only offered as a .deb package.
Tried:
I looked up using deb packages on fedora and found the use of "alien" (a conversion software) or using apt-get on fedora.
Asking:
Has anyone used either of these techniques with a reasonable level of success?
Alternatively:
Since this is open source - would I be able to download a copy of the software and compile it on fedora 21?
Reservations:
I've been told that the two platforms *may* be incompatible and that I may require running through the "C" code or whatever else it has been written in and adjust the code. I am also scared of just trying it out of the box - as I probably need to do so as root and don't want anything to break on my system.
Aside:
I do know that fedora 21 is out of date - just been too pre-occupied to change it - but will get around to it soon.
