trouble with twinview and 2 monitors, please read

hi all. got a weird problem.
I recently got meself a second monitor(HP 1730) which i hooked up to my ATI radeon 9000 card on the DVI plug. Im using XFree86 4.3.0 and red-hat 9.0 and kernel 2.4.20-8

Now then, after having enabled twinview and setting up, what i thought was the correct
info into my XF86config file i am experiensing a weird problem.
I initially get the login screen on both my monitors, but my mouse is not working and if
i start an xterm it opens in the new monitor and if i then move it to my other monitor, using
shortcut keys to move it with the keyboard, the monitor goes black (standby mode?) ????
whats up with that ?? i am unable to identify what is really wrong here as my XFree86.log
file really doesnt give me any warnings or errors.

any help appriciated.
