trouble with php5-gd library install

hi everyone,
I already have php installed on my ubuntu 10.10 machine and the output of php -v is :-
PHP 5.3.3-1ubuntu9.5 with Suhosin-Patch (cli) (built: May 3 2011 00:49:55)
Copyright (c) 1997-2009 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2010 Zend Technologies
Now I wanted to add the gd library to it. So I tried to use the synaptic and got the following error:-
The following packages have unresolvable dependencies. Make sure that all required repositories are added and enabled in the preferences.

Depends: php5-common (=5.3.3-1ubuntu9) but 5.3.3-1ubuntu9.5 is to be installed
BTW I get the same error with the installation of php5-mysql

Can someone help me fix the problem.

Thanks in advance

Synaptic : Please use the 'Refresh' button before package installs.

Or use : 'sudo apt-get update'
.. to insure that all packages are included in the the "apt lists".

No issues today, php5-gd php5-mysql // Ubuntu 10.10

thanks for the prompt response.
But I had already tried out both apt-get update and apt-get clean before reporting the problem here.
I however, solved the problem taking the cue from your post :-
No issues today, php5-gd php5-mysql // Ubuntu 10.10
I removed php entirely and then reloaded everything using the synaptic manager. I had to start the
reinstall with php5-common package and then I installed the rest of the stuff - php5-gd, php5-mysql,
php-pear and libphp-adodb.

thanks again
