Delete the (hidden) folder in your home directory called .phoenix.

rm -rf /home/user/.phoenix

I just deleted my default & only profile to test this out, and it worked for me. =)

nice...that did it. thanks for the fast response...if you happen to read this again though is there any way that i can prevent the profile manager from coming up each time i open a new firefox window? every time i open a new one it comes up and if i click default it says that its already in use.

here is another script to open a new window for linux. Just change FBDIR so its correct and save the script in the firebird folder. The its just to call the script as many times as you want. I made an icon calling the script.

The homepage does not apper using remote but thats not a problem for me.

Change "xfeDoCommand(openBrowser)" to "openURL($@,new-tab)" if you want tabs instead of windows.

#!/bin/bash

FBNUM=`ps -A | grep -c firefox-bin`
FBDIR=/usr/lib/firefox/

if [[ FBNUM -eq 0 ]]
then
$FBDIR/firefox &
else
$FBDIR/firefox -remote "xfeDoCommand(openBrowser)" &
fi
fi
