Trouble opening Xine Media Player

Using Kde version 3.5.9
Slackware 12.1

I can't get the xine media player to start.
I get the window, but not the player.
The player started with the window before. I'm not
sure what I did. I must have closed it somehow.
I rebooted the computer, but didn't help.

How can I fix this?

What is the difference between xine and gxine?

Press G or right-click and select "Show controls".

gxine is designed to integrate with GTK+ GUIs such as GNOME and XFCE.
