trouble mounting an smbfs system
okay I'm baffled. One one system mounting a windows server works fine.. on the second it fails with the error:
8693: session setup failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.)
SMB connection failed
my command is:
mount -t smbfs -o username=foo //192.168.1.1/shared /mnt/q
same versions of Redhat AS3, same versions of mount..... I can't imagine what is different between the two systems. Any ideas?

I just noticed that smbmount is version 3.0.0-14.3E on the working system and Version 3.0.7-1.3E.1 on the failing one.
I don't know if this is significant though.. oh also, the working one still works if I use the broken system's IP address.

Just an IDEA:
Try putting in your password too. Example: -o username=tridge, password=foobar
If you have no password, just put 'password= '.

try smbmount instead of mount, or smbmnt, but IIRC smbmnt uses smbmount so i would start there.
smbmount -o username=foo //192.168.1.1/share /share/mount
yes i did that without the smbfs tag. try that first, if that does not work, then add the smbfs tag to the same line above. should work.
