trouble installing Red hat

I just got a new 80GB SATA hard drive.

I went to install Red Hat on it but it can't detect my hard-drive, says it can't detect the driver for it, and it doesn't have my SATA driver listed in it's list.

I tryed using my Promise fasttrack floppy I got with the mobo but it can't seem to read the disk, but there is no problem with the disk as I have checked it and it's fine.

I then went and installed Mandrake fine with no problem. but I don't want mandrake.

can anyone help me out here?

Try Fedora Core. It is a lot newer, still receives security updates and has much more recent software available for it. Which Mandrake did you use? Does it use kernel 2.6? The hard drive might only be supported by kernel 2.6. Anyways, yeah, try Fedora Core.
