Red face trouble installing realplayer

I have installed realplayer through the realplayer*.bin , but after that when try to open a media file , an error pops up saying 'player does not have the capabilities to play the content and to check for updates'.when I click the check for update option it opens the helix web page saying that my player is uptodate.
What could I do.

The linux RP is not cutting edge. RP keeps changing its formats, and gives all the info to MS, but not to linux developers. That way Windows stays one up on linux. You can download the file and play it with MPlayer.
