Trouble getting mp3blaster to see mixer settings

Hi! Nautilus you can change that to a total of 2 now ;)

Here's my setup, and I will follow with my problem:

I run Slack 8.1 using ALSA. It's on a Duron box in my truck, pushing ogg's (see mp3's) through my head unit. That shouldn't matter, but I figure I'd toss that in there cause it's cool ;)
I have little to no programs installed on the box besides the required ones, and mp3blaster itself. Sound card is integrated, via686. I boot directly into mp3blaster, bypassing tty1. My /etc/inittab file's first line for tty1 has been replaced with mp3blaster ;)

For the problem description:

I have recently setup ALSA to work on the box, and thanks to Excalibur figured out how to make volume levels restore after reboot. This is where the problem begins. I have the alsactl script in /etc/rc.d/rc.local to restore the volume. So after reboot, I can switch to tty2 (ALT F2) check to see if it was restored using alsamixer, and it would appear so. But when I switch over to mp3blaster (ALT F1) the volume is muted. I have to manually increase the volume as if the mixer were muted. But as was seen on tty2, it was in fact at the levels I saved it at.

So here's what I am thinking, but I could be totally wrong, hopefully this will help you to "paint this picture" of my problem in your mind...

Alsa does restore the volume, but after mp3blaster has already started up, making mp3blaster not recognize the volume level. OR
mp3blaster has it's own mixer (this is true) that is independant of any system mixer such as /dev/mixer (this is my guess).

Any ideas, suggestions would be great.

Thanks

Ok to eliminate the possibility that the alsactl file restores the settings AFTER mp3blaster starts, I set it up to execute first, and then run mp3blaster, still no luck. :(

Any ideas, thanks.

Cool

Does anyone even use this program that could toss a few suggestions out?

Cool
