Trouble downloading linux multi media software for ubuntu

Hi Everyone

I havent been on the forums for a while coz i changed from pc to ubuntu which is working a treat. However i want to install music sequencer/audio workstation software and lmms seemed a good choice since it was the only one that came with synaptic. i got the distro free in the linux made easy mag. im pretty sure it's hardy heron if that makes a difference or not i dont know. anyway synaptic says it cant download some of the files when i go to fecth it from the repository.

I would be much appreciative of any help can offer in making my linux suite complete seen as how i am eager to start recording music.

once again my most profound thanks.

Noel

First of all, you should install the medibuntu repository. Use google to find it and read the how-to. Setting it up is a matter of typing/pasting two lines into your terminal. Then launch your synaptic and select "reload".

Next, if you still can't find what you need, visit getdeb.net, download your package(s) and install them with sudo dpkg -i package name. Whenever a package can be installed from the repo, you should prefer that over using getdeb.net as the latter does not manage updates.

some time ago, they'd made a distro specifically for audio called Agnula Demudi, could you try Googling for that?
