trouble compiling RealVNC

i've done this before... in fact, i'm looking at my remote computer through VNC right now, and I don't see why i can't get it working on another computer

i've downloaded the source from realvnc, did ./configure, make, ./vncinstall /usr/local/bin ; that all went fine

i knew that Xvnc (the thing that actually handles all the rendering, afaik) doesn't get compiled automatically; the readme says i need to patch an xfree source tree... i know for a fact i did not do this before

how do i compile Xvnc and get vnc working?

thanks in advance!

*edit: vnc 4.0 btw

*edit2: n/m, sry for this post: I had used vnc 3.3.7 which allows outside-of-source compilation; I just downloaded the source for that version, and all is well

Check out tightvnc. You might have better luck and I personally believe it to be a better application.
