I'd say the only real way to know would be to teardown the working card and examine it's circuitry. Thereby making it a non-working card. So ... no don't do that.
This was my concern when I was talking about a hardware barrier. I don't know, as I said, I'm feeling stubborn. If I were careful, I might be able to tear the card down without permanently damaging it, no?

So what if you do, do that successfully? You risk damaging that card. If you find specific circuitry, you're likely not going to duplicate it, right? I got 2 or 3 techs here with microscopes and all sorts of tools and only if a supplier was going to give me more would I ask them to tear a card like that apart to make this determination.

A thing you did before where you compared images on the two cards. It would seem in this case that comparing original to copy should yield a match.

The only command differences I would've used by the way were to not use any flags:
Code:
sudo dd if=/dev/sdf of=/dev/sdg
And checked what it said when it finished because it should've given a completion summary saying ####### bytes in and ###### bytes out where those two numbers matched exactly.

Fair enough, I guess I imagined it would be something I could solder, but I guess PCBs are pretty small these days.

I first issued the command with no flags, output was:

62592+0 records in
62592+0 records out
32047104 bytes (32 MB) copied, 64.4814 s, 497 kB/s

I next tried direct and dsync.

Ah, well.
