On Fedora 12, I installed wicd from source per the instructions found on Fedora Forum, and the installation seemed to go without problem (once I remembered to use sudo, that is). I disabled NetworkManager's automatic startup and enabled that of wicd, and restarted. Then I got this error when it tried to start:
Quote:
Could not connect to wicd's D-Bus interface. Check the wicd log for details.

Quote:
The wicd daemon has shut down. The UI will not function properly until it is restarted.

I've checked in the three locations listed in WHEREAREMYFILES, but I can't find the wicd log anywhere. Where is it? And also, what's the deal here?
(Note: I can connect fine with NetworkManager and ethernet. NM just can't connect to the encrypted wireless (it's WPA-PSK + TKIP), which is why I tried wicd. I have the correct password but it just doesn't work so I'm trying wicd instead which doesn't even start currently.)
EDIT: It'd be nice if I could report my own thread so I could get it moved to Wireless Networking. I somehow missed that forum when I looked down the list...
EDIT(2): This problem was solved. I just had to run wicd as root.
