Transfer X Session

Hi everyone,

this question is already quite advanced, I think. Hopefully one of you can point me where to look for solutions.
I have two hosts, both running X11. Now I want to know if it is possible to login at host A, suspend the running session (permanently or only via screensaver, whichever gets the thing done) then go to host B and restore the session to continue working with it. It should then behave like I logged in via XDMCP in the first place, except that the session is already running.
I don't really want to use VNC since that would leave host A accessible and with a valid login while I'm not there.

I know that there are session management capabilities in KDE and Gnome but afaik the session management protocol has to be implemented by each and every application in that case, which I fear is not given. I also digged through some XDMCP resources but wasn't blessed with any luck.

Greetings
Marcus

Found xmove

Okay guys,

I found xmove, which sounds like it could handle the task at hand.
But I have the same problem as Beaucoup in
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=75616

No documentation to be found, no one maintains it (anymore).
What to do?

Greetings
Marcus
